Hello Peter, If you have a moment, I think you would enjoy the post on our blog about the Sierra Buttes, it’s a lovely, mystical story. :-) Warm regards, Vivian
Thanks Madhu! As you know, unless one is used to the traffic in India, crossing main roads is not for the faint hearted!! I have a fair amount of practice but sometimes it is still a bit nerve racking for me. In Hyderabad there is a particular bad place at night where I have sometimes waited for so long for a break in the traffic but it doesn’t come.
The only choice is to literally walk out in front of it and let the traffic weave around you! My tactic is to “shadow” a stranger who seems to know what they’re doing and stay right next to them all the way across!!!
Lucky for this small fellow, it’s his only big road to cross on the way to school and it’s not too bad either :)
What a powerful photograph, Peter. Little kid stepping out to face the big wide world – you have captured the sense of anxiety brilliantly. I agree with Madhu – it’s the composition that makes this photo what it is. Wonderfully done!
I know you’ll appreciate when I say that I saw the picture coming when the boy was starting to walk by the bus, but…I didn’t know he’d touch the bus with his hand! When he did, I was luckily ready for it because it lasted a split second. As they say I guess, you have to make your own luck!! :)

It’s on reading list for this evening! :)
not just a photographer’s sharp eye but a sensitive one too :)
Thanks for such a lovely comment Laura; It’s appreciated!
Well anticipated, a wonderful shot
Many thanks indeed!
What a beautiful composition Peter! I can feel the hesitation in the little boy’s tentative step froward!

What a thrilling shot Peter, that little hand reaching out before stepping ahead. Sweet heartbreak in this shot!
Touching the bus made the picture complete I think Patti. I blew the highlights in the background unfortunately but liked the shot too much :)
In that perspective, it is indeed! Great picture!
:) Many thanks Mark!
exactly, this is the moment.
